  • Federal Authorities File Direct Evidence for NEB Reconsideration Hearing

    On October 31, 2018, Federal Authorities filed direct evidence with the National Energy Board (NEB) in relation to Project-related marine shipping, including mitigation measures, alternative means and requirements of any follow-up program.

    The submission is part of the Reconsideration hearing for the Trans Mountain Expansion Project. The hearing will consider any necessary changes or additions to the NEB’s May 2016 Recommendation Report, in light of the inclusion of Project-related marine shipping between the Westridge Marine Terminal and the 12-nautical-mile territorial sea limit in the “designated project” under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 (CEAA 2012). Direct evidence filed by Trans Mountain can be viewed here.

    The evidence in the submission is confined to the List of Issues for the Reconsideration hearing and the NEB’s request to Federal Authorities of October 12, 2018, and is comprised of specialist, expert information or knowledge in the possession of each relevant authority. The Federal Authorities are: Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and Canadian Coast Guard (CCG), Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Transport Canada (TC), Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (VFPA), Pacific Pilotage Authority (PPA), Health Canada (HC), Parks Canada (PC) and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan).

  • Backgrounder: Trans Mountain Files Direct Evidence for NEB Reconsideration Hearing

    On October 31, 2018, Trans Mountain filed direct evidence with the National Energy Board (NEB), highlighting the company’s intensive examination of marine issues, risks and impacts relating to expanded tanker traffic in the Salish Sea, including potential marine mammal impacts and mitigation.

    The submission is part of the Reconsideration hearing for the Trans Mountain Expansion Project. The hearing will consider any necessary changes or additions to the NEB’s May 2016 Recommendation Report, in light of the inclusion of Project-related marine shipping between the Westridge Marine Terminal and the 12-nautical-mile territorial sea limit in the “designated project” under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 (CEAA 2012).

    “Over the past six years we’ve taken great care to assess and include marine aspects in the Project, and additional safety and environmental safeguards will be in place when the Project proceeds,” says Ian Anderson, President and CEO of Trans Mountain Corporation.

  • CAF-FCA to Host First-Ever Supporting Women In Trades Conference

    Delegates will travel from across Canada to attend the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum’s (CAF-FCA’s) first-ever, Supporting Women in Trades Conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

    In partnership with the Government of Nova Scotia and others, CAF-FCA will host more than 350 delegates at the sold-out, two-day event. The agenda showcases promising practices and great initiatives underway across Canada to attract, prepare, up-skill and support women in the skilled trades. CAF-FCA will develop a Road Map to Supporting Women in the Trades based on best practices learned and action items resulting from conversation at the event.

    CAF-FCA Executive Director, France Daviault points out that “our community is committed to moving the needle on the conversation about female participation in the trades. Great work is being undertaken in every corner of the country and CAF-FCA will be the catalyst for establishing next steps to support the progression of women in the trades.”

  • PACCAR Parts Opens New Parts Distribution Center in Toronto, Ontario

    PACCAR Parts is proud to announce a new 160,000 square foot parts distribution center (PDC) in Toronto, Ontario. The facility officially opened on Oct. 22 and will increase parts availability and maximize uptime for PACCAR Parts customers across eastern Canada.

    The facility features state-of-the-art technologies such as voice-activated picking, an automated banding conveyor, optimized pick paths and custom inventory zones that lead to improved quality, productivity and efficiency.

    With these technologies and a dedicated team of associates, the PDC will further PACCAR Parts’ goal to provide the highest quality aftermarket parts to customers, when and where they need them.

  • Continuous Operation For Terex RT 90 Rough Terrain Crane At The Cadarache Nuclear Research Center In The South Of France

    Use on construction site for thermonuclear research reactor requires highest precision and sensitivity

    For two and a half years now, the French branch of the Italian crane service provider Vernazza Autogru has been working on the construction site of the international research project for the generation of electricity from fusion energy, ITER. The Terex RT 90 rough terrain crane was chosen as part of the working equipment and has been in service there for months. During this time it has been reliable with no downtime.

    The high reliability of the Terex RT 90 was one of the main reasons for using this crane in Cadarache. "In addition, the RT 90 with its width of only three meters is the most compact crane of this type on the market. This, too, made it our first choice for this construction site. It also has the intuitive IC-1 control system, which ensures precise crane movements, and has an innovative diagnostic function," states Paolo Delfino, General Director France for Vernazza Autogru, as further reasons for using this crane.
