Federal Investment Helps Dartmouth Manufacturer Produce Critical Parts Faster

Support for Velocity Machining and Welding will speed up production for supply chains across aerospace, marine and transportation industries.

On July 28, Braedon Clark, Member of Parliament for Sackville—Bedford—Preston, announced a repayable contribution of $875,500 for Velocity Machining & Welding Inc.

This investment will support the purchase and installation of automated machining equipment at Velocity’s Dartmouth facility. By adopting advanced technology, the company will increase production of industrial components and deliver them more quickly to customers in aerospace, marine, transportation and other key sectors. The project will also help address skilled labour shortages by enabling the company to do more with its existing workforce.

"With federal support for new automated equipment, Velocity Machining & Welding will be able to produce more, deliver faster for customers and support the supply chains that keep major projects moving across our region.”

The announcement further demonstrates the Government of Canada's commitment to helping Canadian businesses invest in new technologies, boost productivity and build a stronger, more competitive economy.

Velocity Machining & Welding Inc. was established in 2000 and specializes in machining, welding, fabrication, laser cutting, 3D printing, and waterjet cutting for sectors including aerospace, marine, transportation, forestry, mining, and earth moving.

The new automated manufacturing system is expected to add at least 75 hours of production capacity each week, helping the company produce more parts and shorten delivery times.

The funding announced today is provided through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s (ACOA) Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) program.
