Kenworth’s Excellent Lineup At Truck World

Kenworth displayed an excellent lineup of trucks at Truck World April 21-23 at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. The Kenworth booth featured the T680 Next Generation, zero emissions T680E and K270E battery electric vehicles, T180 Class 5 stakebed, and customer T880 day cab equipped with a hydroseeder, in addition to the PACCAR TX-18 transmission introduced in February.

The Kenworth T680 Next Gen establishes a new industry standard by raising the bar for superior fuel efficiency, class-leading performance and bold aerodynamic styling. The T680 Next Gen offers advanced technology including an innovative 15-inch digital display, Next Gen SmartWheel, fully LED headlamps, under-the-vehicle airflow management, additional advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and a sleek high-tech design that balances aerodynamics and serviceability. The T680 Next Gen at the show is equipped a 76-inch sleeper and the full PACCAR Powertrain -- PACCAR MX-13 engine, PACCAR TX-12 transmission and PACCAR DX-40 rear axle.

The Kenworth T680E battery electric vehicle is designed for pickup and delivery, regional haul and drayage applications, and is available as a day cab as either a tractor or straight truck. The zero emissions T680E has an 82,000 lb. gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) and an estimated 150-mile operating range, depending on the application. The vehicle utilizes the industry standard SAE CCS1 charge port, can be fully charged in approximately three hours, The T680E’s smooth acceleration and quiet operation helps to reduce driver fatigue, making it the next evolution in Kenworth’s legacy of “The Driver’s Truck.”

The Kenworth K270E (Class 6) battery electric vehicle is designed for pickup and delivery and short regional haul operations. The K270E offers a direct-drive motor rated at 355 hp. The electric powertrain is available with high-density battery packs of 141 kWh, 209 kWh, and 282 kWh that deliver up to 100-, 150- and 200-mile range, respectively, with zero emissions. The vehicle utilizes a DC fast-charging system capable of fast re-charge in as quick as one-hour. End-of-shift and overnight AC charging is also offered.

The Kenworth T180 stakebed (Class 5), possesses excellent versatility and maneuverability, spacious 2.1-meter wide cab, exceptional visibility and driver-focused ergonomics. The T180 is standard with the PACCAR PX-7 engine and PACCAR TX-8 automatic transmission. In addition, the T180 is also now available with the Cummins B6.7N natural gas engine when also specified with an aero hood and Allison automatic transmission.
The customer T880 is from Rose Erosion Control Services and is specified with a Finn HT400 Hydro Seeder. It’s a 6x6 with a front drive axle. The T880 is Kenworth’s vocational flagship.

The new PACCAR TX-18 transmission offers additional capability for heavy on-highway use for applications, such as heavy haul transport. The new PACCAR TX-18 Pro adds enhanced capabilities and unique features for extreme duty vocational applications and other select off-highway applications. The new transmissions are available with the Kenworth T680, T880 and W990 equipped with the PACCAR MX-13 and PACCAR MX-11 engines. Optimally engineered to operate with the PACCAR MX engine platform, the new TX-18 and TX-18 Pro transmissions maximize the full potential of all MX engine ratings, with maximums of 510 horsepower, 1,850 lb-ft of torque capacity and 140,000 pounds of gross combination vehicle weight (GCVW).
