Peterbilt Receives Order For 1,222 Model 579s From Yellow Corporation

Peterbilt Motors Company is excited to work with Yellow Corporation to refresh their fleet with an order of 1,222 Peterbilt Model 579s.

Working directly with the Peterbilt Sales Engineering team to spec the perfect truck for their various needs, Yellow chose multiple configurations of the Model 579 Day Cab equipped with the PACCAR MX engine and PACCAR TX-12 transmission. This is the single largest order of Peterbilt trucks equipped exclusively with a PACCAR powertrain.

“I’m thrilled to buy brand-new trucks from such a great American company. Peterbilt trucks are a perfect choice for our employees and it’s a win for the economy and America’s workers,” said Yellow CEO Darren Hawkins.

Greg Dam, a 35-year veteran of Yellow with over 1.5 million miles without a preventable accident, was the one of the first drivers to receive a new truck on behalf of the Yellow team when he visited Peterbilt’s plant located in Denton, Texas. Plant Manager Tina Albert, presented Dam the keys to his new Model 579 and he drove the truck off the assembly line.

“It’s an honor to work with Yellow Freight as they begin to refresh their fleet. The Peterbilt Model 579 Day Cab with PACCAR MX Engines and PACCAR transmissions is perfect truck for their applications,” said Jason Skoog, Peterbilt general manager and PACCAR vice president.
