Finalists For 2017 Influential Woman In Trucking Award

Oct 24, 2017 - 7 years ago

Women In Trucking Association (WIT) and Freightliner Trucks announced three finalists for the 2017 Influential Woman in Trucking award which highlights the achievements of female role models and pioneers in the trucking industry.

This is the seventh year for the award which was developed in 2010 as a way to honour female leaders and to attract and advance women within the trucking industry.

Nominees included women from all over the industry in corporate, manufacturing, supplier, owner-operator, driver, and sales or dealership roles.

The 2017 Influential Woman in Trucking award finalists are:
• Traci Crane, Sr. Manager Fleet Services, Contract Freighters, Inc.
• Tana Greene, CEO and Founder, Blue Bloodhound
• Daphne Jefferson, Deputy Administrator, U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration

Traci Crane, Sr. Manager over Fleet Services is the first female in company history (founded in 1951) to hold a management position within the Maintenance Department. Her role within the Maintenance Department is to provide oversight to their Road Service group as well truck assignments and recovery.

Tana Greene, founder of Blue Bloodhound has been recognized by American Express as one of the 50 fastest growing female-owned companies in 2006 and 2017 and for the past six years INC Magazine has named her business one of the Top 5000 fastest growing national companies.

Daphne Jefferson became the Agency’s Deputy Administrator in February 2015 after serving as the Counsellor to the Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) in the Office of the Secretary (OST). Prior to serving as the Counsellor to the Chief of Staff, she served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Administration in OST.

With the outstanding nominations submitted, it was extremely difficult for the judges to narrow it down to the finalists. The judges for the 2017 award are Ellen Voie, WIT President/CEO, Meredith Ochs, Talk Show Host, Sirius XM Radio, and Ramona Hood, President of Customer Operations, Transportation Logistics at GENCO, a FedEx company and the 2016 Influential Woman in Trucking award recipient.

All three finalists have been asked to participate on a panel at the WIT Accelerate! Conference & Expo held in Kansas City, MO November 6-8. The winner will be announced at the general session panel discussion, "4 Steps Women Take to Become Successful Business Leaders" on Tuesday, November 7 at 8:45 am – 10:00 am.
