As the BC Trucking Association approaches the first anniversary of its Clean Carrier Program, it is proud to announce substantial progress in lowering fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions among trucking companies that have taken part in the initiative.

Clean Carrier Program Achieves Significant Reductions

Data collected from the program shows an impressive 35% to 41% reduction in fuel consumption and corresponding emissions for companies that adopted a comprehensive suite of fuel-saving technologies compared to those using minimal technology.

The Clean Carrier Program supports trucking companies across British Columbia in their transition to fuel-efficient practices and technologies. Throughimage this program, participating carriers receive a tailored approach that emphasizes the adoption of best practices designed to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. This includes recommendations for technology, performance analysis, and access to relevant training resources. The program’s findings clearly indicate that employing a comprehensive suite of fuel-saving techniques can substantially improve fuel efficiency and environmental performance.

“Seeing these results reinforces the Clean Carrier Program’s role in supporting carriers that are ready to take meaningful steps toward environmental stewardship,” said Dave Earle, BCTA President and CEO. “By providing carriers with the support they need to help reduce their environmental impact, the program not only helps improve business operations but also contributes to BC’s climate goals. We’re thrilled to see carriers embracing these changes and making substantial progress within the first year.”

Beyond the environmental benefits, companies that fully implement fuel-saving technologies also experience operational cost savings, making the Clean Carrier Program a win-win for businesses and the environment alike. By showcasing verifiable improvements in fuel efficiency and emissions performance, carriers can enhance their reputation and demonstrate their commitment to environmental responsibility. As the program enters its second year, BCTA remains committed to providing continued support through data analysis, best practice guidance, and advocacy for sustainable practices.
