In November 2010, Honour House Society opened the doors of Honour House, in New Westminster, BC. The house provides a “home away from home” for our men and women in uniform and their families when they are forced to travel to Metro Vancouver for medical treatment.

Military personnel, veterans, paramedics, firefighters, police officers and other emergency services members can stay at the house, free of charge, while they are being treated for a variety of serious illnesses and injuries.

In November 2020, the Society celebrated the tenth anniversary of the day that their patron, Captain Trevor Greene and President, Honorary Colonel, Allan De Genova cut the ribbon to open their doors. Since then, the non-profit has provided around eleven thousand nights of accommodation for our men and women in uniform, during some of the most difficult times in their lives.

The house has only one full time staff member and the vast majority of work is carried out by volunteers and a dedicated volunteer board of directors.

Honour Ranch

Honour House Society recognized the need to provide more, much needed support systems for those who are struggling with operational stress injuries and in October 2019 they held the opening ceremony for their second major project, Honour Ranch.

Honour Ranch is located on a beautiful, 120-acre, secluded property, overlooking the Thompson River Valley, just outside the village of Ashcroft, BC. The ranch consists of one large main lodge where military personnel, veterans and emergency services members are able to attend learning sessions with mental health experts and specialists who can provide a diverse range of supportive programming. The property has several support buildings and ten comfortable and private cottages where guests can retreat and rest in between sessions.

As COVID restrictions ease, Honour Ranch will open its doors again to become a lifesaving centre of excellence for operational stress injury support programming development and education for our brave men and women in uniform.

For the Ranch, a considerable amount of work needs to be carried out over the next few months, which led to the purchase of a Link-Belt 75X3EX excavator from Inland, Langley, BC

The Link-Belt 75X3EX Excavator was provided by Inland, Langley.

“Inland and Link-Belt Excavators are proud to support Honour House in their mission,” said Corey Timms, director, Inland Group. “We believe that organizations like Honour House truly are doing the heavy lifting to support those who put the safety of all Canadians first,” said Timms.

“What the Honour House and Ranch offer to Service members, past and present, front line workers and their families really hits home, as I have family and friends in all different types of these occupations,” said Scott Ashworth, Sales Consultant, Inland. “It is a great feeling to be able to work with them knowing that our relationship and the ability to support Honour House will effectively help build more opportunity for them to reach out and help more people,” Ashworth said.

Some of the large-scale tasks that the Link-Belt excavator will be used for are:

  • Maintaining the 3 km of road from the highway to the ranch and the road system around the property as well as creating new roads.
  • Work on the wildfire suppression.
  • Running new power lines and poles 2km from the highway to the ranch.
  • Improvements to the ranches’ irrigation and drainage system.
  • Proposed construction of further building including the addition of ten new guest cabins.

“The amazing donations and support that we have received from the incredible team at Inland and Link-Belt Excavators have helped to ensure that we are able to continue to save the lives of so many of our brave men and women in uniform,” said Allan De Genova, president, Honour House.

“Their commitment to helping us to help those who we ask to bear some of the greatest burdens we could ever ask anyone to bear is truly inspirational and heartwarming. I can never thank Inland enough for what they have done for us at Honour Ranch,” added De Genova.
