Peterbilt Introduces Cummins ISL-G Near Zero Emmissions Engine For Models 567, 520 And 320

Oct 3, 2016 - 8 years ago

Peterbilt Motors Company introduces the Cummins Westport ISL-G Near Zero NOx emissions natural gas engine for Models 567, 520 and 320.

The ISL-G Near Zero engine emissions are 90 percent lower than the current EPA NOx limit through the introduction of a unique three way catalyst in the after-treatment, advanced engine calibration and a closed crankcase ventilation system (CCV). “Peterbilt is producing increasingly efficient products,” said Scott Newhouse, Peterbilt Chief Engineer. “The addition of the ISL-G Near Zero emissions engine strengthens Peterbilt as an environmental leader.”

The new engine’s performance and efficiency match the current ISL-G, with 320 horsepower and 1,000 lb-ft torque available. Customers with line-haul, vocational and refuse applications will benefit from the efficient option. “Peterbilt continues to lead the industry with the highest performing trucks on the road,” said Robert Woodall, Peterbilt Assistant General Manager of Sales and Marketing. “We’re pleased to offer the ISL-G Near Zero engine as an excellent choice for our customers.”

Like the currently available ISL-G engine, the ISL-G Near Zero operates on 100% natural gas, which can be carried on the vehicle in either compressed (CNG) or liquefied (LNG) form. The new ISL-G Near Zero can also run on renewable natural gas (RNG).

The Cummins ISL-G Near Zero emissions engine will become available for production in Models 520 and 320 by year-end. The new engine will become available in the Model 567 in early 2017.
