The Ammann APF 12/40-2 and APF 12/50-2 weigh 82 kg and offer working widths of 400 mm and 500 mm, respectively. Compact and maneuverable, they’re well suited for urban and residential environments, while their maintenance-free exciter system advances sustainability by eliminating daily servicing needs.

Applications

The new APF 12/40-2 and APF 12/50-2 build on the strengths of other Ammann models and are ideal for:

  • Asphalt and paving
  • Trench and pipeline construction
  • Landscaping and gardening
  • Compaction in confined areas
  • Light to medium patchwork

Both models deliver improved compaction power and superior operator comfort, even in demanding environments. The APF 12/50-2, with its broader plate, is ideal for larger surfaces, while the APF 12/40-2 excels in tighter spaces.

Productivity

These new plates, to be available in quarter one of 2026, are powered by Honda GX 160 engines. Engine output has been increased to 3.6 kW for both plates, improving productivity and increasing reliability on challenging jobsites. Highlights include:

  • Surface coverage:
    APF 12/40-2: 528 m²/h (previously 480 m²/h)
    APF 12/50-2: 660 m²/h (previously 600 m²/h)
  • Speed: Both models cover up to 22 m/min (previously 20 m/min)
  • Gradeability: 30%
  • Incline capability: Up to 20° on all sides

Ergonomics

The plates offer industry-leading hand/arm vibration control (< 2.5 m/s²) that keeps operators safe and productive. Other ergonomic highlights include:

  • Toolless mountable options:
12-litre water tank: Enables asphalt compaction; was previously 10 litres
    Paving pad: Protects paving stones
  • Transport wheels: Enhance on-site mobility
  • Newly available hour meter: For better tracking of service intervals and machine usage
  • New ergonomic foldable handle: Reduces footprint for transport and storage
  • Central lifting hook: Ensures safe and easy machine handling

Serviceability

The robust engine frame protects the engine during operation and transport. Other highlights include:

  • Maintenance-free exciter: Reduces service downtime and cost
  • Enhanced base plate: Wear-resistant and self-cleaning design
  • Full side covers: Shield critical components, including the V belt
  • 3.1-litre fuel tank: Extends time between fillings; was previously 2 litres.
