The SD70 is a 66-inch, 7-ton roller that delivers the same outstanding drum performance as the proven SD75, but with a streamlined design for optimal cost efficiency.

“The market spoke and we listened. The SD70 is the perfect blend of Volvo quality and smart design for operations where every dollar counts,” said Justin Zupanc, Compaction Product Manager at Volvo CE. “With simplified features, low fuel consumption and strong residual value, the SD70 keeps costs down and uptime high. Durable, reliable and easy to service — all backed up by our Volvo standard lifetime frame guarantee — this is a solid investment for value-driven operations.”

Boosting Performance and Efficiency

With a drum design shared by the SD75, the SD70 provides the same renowned performance that Volvo compactors have built their name on for more than 50 years. The advanced drum control system offers multiple frequencies, dual amplitudes and optimized centrifugal force for consistent, high-quality results across a variety of job conditions.

Under the hood is a reliable 74-horsepower Volvo Tier 4 Final engine that provides high torque at low rpm, ensuring exceptional performance with low fuel consumption. The engine’s passive regeneration feature enhances productivity by cleaning filters automatically without impacting performance or requiring operator input.

The ergonomically designed operator’s platform provides a safe, comfortable and productive working environment with excellent all-around visibility. With an optional canopy sunshade, fleets can configure the operator environment according to their requirements.

Supporting Reliability and Uptime

Durability is a central feature of the SD70’s design. The compactor shares heavy-duty components across the Volvo soil compaction range — including the drum, engine, axle and motors — ensuring reliability and robust performance in demanding environments. Convenient ground-level service access simplifies routine maintenance, maximizing uptime and productivity. The lifetime frame guarantee reaffirms Volvo’s commitment to long-term value and quality and provides added peace of mind.

With CareTrack standard telematics or ActiveCare Direct advanced telematics, owners can rely on 24/7 machine monitoring from Volvo’s Uptime Center. Both systems provide weekly performance reports and proactive maintenance alerts to help prevent downtime and reduce repair costs.
