The R 9200 turns 10 this year! Liebherr first introduced this 200-tonne-class excavator in 2016 and over the past decade this powerful machine has developed a reputation for being a productive, fast and fuel-efficient member of any fleet it joins.

To celebrate the R 9200’s 10th birthday, Liebherr is sharing some fun facts about this powerful, not-so-little excavator.

1. Proven around the world

Since entering the market, we have delivered R 9200s to 17 countries around the world. Collectively, these machines have achieved more than 4.4 million operating hours.

2. Best in class

The R 9200’s class-leading bucket capacity and fast cycle times make this the fastest excavator in the 200-tonne class. Plus, thanks to the incredible combination of the R 9200’s unique hydraulic design and the Liebherr Power Efficiency system, it also happens to be 25 % more fuel efficient than our previous generation of 200-tonne excavators.

3. Absolutely adaptable

The R 9200 can handle temperatures ranging from −40 °C to 50 °C. No wonder it can be found loading all sorts of different commodities all over the world! R 9200s can be found in gold, copper, chrome, basalt, iodine, zinc, iron ore, coal and zirconium mines – just to name a few!

4. Make it electric

The electric-drive version of the R 9200, the R 9200 E, was released in 2019 – just three years after the original version. With the R 9200 E, mining operations get all of the class-leading performance of our 200-tonne-class machine but with the added benefits of zero emissions during shift, lower maintenance costs and less noise pollution.
