48th Annual Ivan Hanchard Charity Golf Tournament Raises $25K For BC Children’s Hospital And $5K For Betty Spalton Scholarship Fund

Jul 5, 2017 - 8 years ago

The BC Road Builders and Heavy Construction Association held its 48th Annual Ivan Hanchard Charity Golf Tournament on Friday, May 5th at Northview Golf and Country Club in Surrey. Although it was a wet day, we had 360 registered golfers and about 330 of them braved the weather.

The Association hosts the charity golf tournament to provide members with an opportunity to come together to network as well as raise funds for two great causes. $5,000 of the funds raised is going to the Betty Spalton Scholarship Fund which offers up to two $1,500 scholarships annually to those people pursuing educations that will lead to careers in the road building and heavy construction industries. In addition, the Association will be donating $25,000 to the BC Children’s Hospital which this year is going to be used specifically to purchase a much needed patient monitor for the oncology unit. This monitor can make all the difference in a child's treatment and recovery by monitoring every small change in oxygen levels, breathing patterns, and heart rhythms/rates.

Since 2001, the Association has donated over $400,000 to the BC Children’s Hospital! It was a great event and we appreciate the support of our members and partners, and especially our generous sponsors!
