Volvo BM, Swedish-based manufacturer of wheel loaders and specialized equipment for the construction and forest industries, has announced the appointment of Butler Brothers of Victoria, B.C. to their Canadian dealer network.

Butler Brothers have recently been appointed exclusive dealers for Volvo BM construction and forestry equipment in British Columbia.


Butler Brothers will distribute the complete line of Volvo BM products in the province of British Columbia.

The Volvo BM product line will be available at the dealer’s Victoria headquarters at 2046 Keating Cross Road in Central Saanich, and at full sales and service branch facilities located at 6513 - 200 Street in Langley.

Butler Brothers, founded in 1940, developed from a log hauling operation established on Vancouver Island by Claud Butler in the 1930s. Today, the company is managed by Claud Butler’s sons: C.O. Butler, president and general manager; Lawrence Butler, director; Eric Butler, director; and Thomas Butler, secretary-treasurer. The dealership is currently comprised of six major divisions, and employs over 300 persons.

Butler Brothers will distribute and service Volvo BM articulated and rigid frame wheel loaders, an off-highway hauler chassis, a forwarder, processor, feller, and delimber.

Volvo BM is a member of the internationally known Volvo Group, Swedish manufacturer of construction, forestry and agricultural equipment, passenger cars, trucks, buses, and industrial, marine, and jet engines. Canadian headquarters are located at 17400 Transcanada Highway, Kirkland, Quebec.

Editor’s Update: In the 1980s, Eric’s Son Brian undertook the leadership of the company. Butler Concrete & Aggregate is now operated as a family business by Eric’s son Travis on Vancouver Island.
