Mayor Scott Statement On Opening Of Disaster Recovery Program Applications

May 13, 2020 - 5 years ago

On May 11th Mayor Don Scott has provided the following statement with Disaster Recovery Program applications now being accepted by the Government of Alberta:

“I strongly urge all flood-impacted residents, businesses and property owners to apply for the Government of Alberta’s Disaster Recovery Program (DRP).

Last Friday, Premier Kenney and Minister Madu announced that the Province is urgently providing $100 million in DRP funding to our region in support of those that were most impacted by this historic flooding event. Residents can learn more and apply now at alberta.ca.

We again thank Premier Kenney, Minister Madu and our MLAs, Laila Goodridge and Tany Yao, for their efforts in making this much needed and timely support available to our community. It is appreciated.

I recognize that these are stressful times for all of you that have been impacted. On top of this devastating flood, we are all dealing with the impacts of COVID-19 and other challenges, all at the same time.

We would also like to thank the Premier, Minister Luan, our MLAs and the Province for today’s announcement of additional mental health supports for our region. It is important we take care of each other now more than ever.

I also know that we will here for you every step of the way in the recovery process. While in many ways the hard work is just getting started, my Council colleagues and our Municipality will continue to do what we can to ensure supports are in place alongside our many partners.
