From the archives: October 1985 - Supply Post’s 14th Anniversary

Supply Post October 1985

In the days of old or October 1971, to be more precise, there commenced publication a newspaper called The Supply Post. The founding father of this enterprise was a genial fellow by the name of T.R.C. Kenward, who is incidentally, also the father (or father-in-law) of the majority of the staff members of this paper. Some would say that this could lead to the “Too Many Chiefs, Not Enough Indians” syndrome. Hogwash — we all know who’s boss — right?

While the writer is somewhat of a newcomer to the scene, having been withthe paper only a few years, looking back over such old issues as these, I am given the feeling that The Supply Post has seen a healthy cross section of Boom and Bust in this Province.

There is little to equal the ‘You’re Up – You’re Down’ story of Western Canada.

But we’re still here and you’re still here and things continue to look up.

So Happy Birthday to Us – from Us! Thank you Reader and Advertiser alike who have helped to make this October 1985 issue the biggest Supply Post to date!

Editor’s Update: At 88 pages, the October 1985 issue was indeed one of the largest Supply Posts to that date. We would like to apologize at this time for the casually racist comment above that made us cringe, too.
