Industry Overview

Aggregates & Mining Lead Seasonal Surge

The anticipated seasonal growth in buying and selling equipment has emerged across most industry sectors, with aggregates and mining experiencing a significant increase of 57.27% in page engagement, predominantly driven by activity in British Columbia and Alberta.

Trailers Stage a Notable Recovery

A significant trend change occurred in the trailers category, which remained slow in recent months. November marked a turning point with a 58.59% increase in page views, suggesting renewed interest in trailers.

Forestry Sector Shows Regional Divergence

The forestry industry demonstrated a generally positive trend in Canada, with an increase of 6.23% in views. However, the interest varied greatly across the regions, with the most positive change observed in Ontario – 38.78%, Manitoba – 38.33%, and Nova Scotia – 29%. On the contrary, Western provinces such as Alberta and British Columbia are shifting interest, possibly indicating the seasonal adjustments.

Equipment Types

Forestry Equipment Gains Traction

The emerging interest in the forestry sector translated into the equipment pages, with skidders climbing up by 18.21% and yarders showing an impressive 57.32% increase in views.

Jaw Crushers Show Sustained Growth

In the aggregates and mining sector, the jaw crushers have shown 9.09% growth from October to November. While the momentum is positive, the rate of growth has slowed down after the spikes observed in September and October, stabilizing the activity level.

Dozers Command Exceptional Interest

Dozers showed robust growth across multiple metrics, reflecting strong demand in equipment as operators prepare for the new season. The views increased by 47.14%, but search behaviour is what made dozers the November standout, as people searched for dozers on SupplyPost.com by 223.34% more than in October. This impressive change is signalling the strong buyers' interest, creating a great opportunity window for sellers.

Top Brands

Brand-specific searches have reflected the positive seasonal trend, with several major manufacturers observing a significant increase in interest throughout November. John Deere equipment led with 80.88% growth in searches, followed by Volvo with a 56.08%. Caterpillar remained the search leader in terms of absolute numbers, experiencing a steady increase of 3.99% and reinforcing its strong presence in the heavy-equipment sector.

Provincial Breakdown

Alberta Drives National Growth

Alberta demonstrated strong performance, with active website users increasing by 25.35%, aligning with the activity in the aggregates and mining sector. The two major cities, Edmonton and Calgary, heavily contributed to the provincial total, with the number of users increasing by 38.51% and 11.79% respectively.

Steady Growth in BC and Quebec

British Columbia and Quebec both kept their positive trends, though at a more moderate pace than Alberta. The number of active users in BC grew by 10.57%, while Quebec observed a very close result of 10.55%.

Ontario Holds Steady

Ontario’s activity remained relatively stable with a 2.45% rise in the number of active users. Given the large equipment market in the province, the stability is a sign of consistent performance, with significant growth within specific sectors such as forestry.

Prairie Provinces Show Mixed Results

While Alberta is demonstrating an impressive increase in users, Manitoba and Saskatchewan experienced a slight drop in traffic due to seasonal and localized factors influencing the market.

Looking Ahead

November’s results looked quite encouraging for the heavy equipment market in Canada. The expected seasonal growth has emerged across most of the sectors, with particularly strong results in aggregates and mining, as well as in the forestry sector. For buyers, the traditional year-end planning cycle creates ideal conditions to update their equipment and connect with the trusted sellers at SupplyPost.com.

Stay tuned for our 2025 insights in early January to see how these trends evolve throughout the year.
