  • Insights On Recruiting And Retaining Female Drivers

    The Women In Trucking Association (WIT) President Ellen Voie participated in a recent Trucking Industry Roundtable hosted by U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and U.S. Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh to address supply chain disruptions and discuss the recruitment and retention of truck drivers. For over 14 years, WIT has worked to remove barriers and identify best practices for growing the number of women working in the industry.

  • Westjet Cargo Announces Dedicated Freighters To Better Serve Canada

    WestJet has announced that it is launching a new dedicated cargo service, using 737-800 Boeing Converted Freights (BCF), as dedicated aircraft, to fulfill the larger-scale needs of Canadian businesses, freight forwarders, shippers and individual customers. The first of these dedicated 737-800BCFs are expected to be in service by the second quarter of 2022.

  • Two Demag CC 2800-1 Cranes Bring 410-Tonne Ship To Water

    The scenery was like a dream: A bright blue sky, and turquoise water. This meant that the conditions were perfect for lifting the 70-meter-long “Aqua Helix”, which was scheduled for its first-ever launch that day.

    Before this, however, the crew boat for industrial maritime projects with space for up to 122 people first had to be taken out of the hangar where it had been built. Two 12-axle self-propelled modular transporters were in charge of this task and brought the 410-tonne ship directly to the quay wall, where the two Demag® CC 2800-1 lattice boom crawler cranes were already waiting. The cranes had been previously transported to the shipyard premises with around 55 trucks and had then been set up.

  • Diversified Product Development Opens New Manufacturing Facility

    Diversified Product Development, marketer of the LineWise, LiftWise, RailWise and DesignWise brands, hosted a grand opening ceremony on June 22, 2021, at its new manufacturing facility in Waco, Texas. Approximately 100 people attended the event marking the company’s strategic move, which will help Diversified grow and better serve its customers.

    The new facility is 60,000 square feet, which is more than 10 percent larger than the company’s previous building. Diversified also invested in multiple equipment upgrades to increase its capabilities, such as doubling its jib crane capacity and adding a 10-ton bridge crane.
