  • CTA: No Reason For Further Delay On Canadian ELD Rule

    The announcement of the final US rule requiring the use of electronic logging devices (ELD), puts Canada “under the gun” and removes any remaining argument for the Canadian governments not to move forward with a similar mandate in Canada, says this country’s largest trucking association. For over a decade, the Canadian Trucking Alliance – the federation of the provincial trucking associations representing over 4,500 trucking companies – has been lobbying the Canadian governments to introduce a mandate that would require all trucks where the driver is currently required to produce a paper log book in order to monitor compliance with the hours of service regulations to be equipped with an ELD.

  • BNC Crane Raises The Roof For Habitat For Humanity

    Habitat for Humanity Brant, Ontario, Canada, has built 19 new homes in the area since 1999 by relying on the generosity of volunteers to perform the majority of the construction work. When the local organization’s current construction project called for the use of a crane to lift a roof into place on a two-story house, BNC Crane Services, headquartered in Brantford, was more than happy to lend a hand. Using a Terex T 560-1 telescopic truck crane, BNC Crane donated its talent to make the dream of home ownership possible for a family of five.

  • Prime Inc. Orders 900 Peterbilt Model 579s

    Prime Inc. – one of North America’s largest carriers with refrigerated, flatbed, tanker and intermodal divisions – ordered 900 Peterbilt Model 579s equipped with PACCAR MX-13 engines. Peterbilt Motors Company announced the purchase which will put the trucks in operation with Prime’s affiliate, Success Leasing. “Peterbilt is a great business partner with a long history of providing Prime with vehicle and support solutions that help us build on our reputation as the industry’s most reliable and competitive carrier,” said Darrel Hopkins, Director of Leasing for Prime. “We believe the Model 579 will help us attract and retain drivers, as well as provide outstanding fuel efficiency and uptime.”
    Prime was founded in 1970 and is headquartered in Springfield, Mo. The trucks were purchased through The Larson Group, also based in Springfield.
    “Prime is a valued customer of The Larson Group and their commitment to bringing its customers higher levels of value mirrors our own,” said Glenn Larson, President of The Larson Group, which owns 14 Peterbilt truck dealerships. “We are proud to have them as a customer and serve their truck sales and aftermarket needs.”
