  • Sandvik Creates First 3D Printed Diamond Composite

    Sandvik Additive Manufacturing has created the first ever 3D printed diamond composite. While this diamond does not sparkle, it is perfect for a wide range of industrial uses. This super-hard material can be 3D printed in highly complex shapes and can revolutionize the way industry uses the hardest natural material on the planet.

    Diamond is harder than anything else in nature. It is a key component in a large range of wear resistant tools in industry, from mining and drilling to machining and also medical implants. Since 1953 it has been possible to produce synthetic diamond, but since it’s so hard and complicated to machine, it is almost impossible to form complex shapes.

    By using additive manufacturing, Sandvik has managed to 3D-print diamond composites which can be formed in almost any shape. This opens the possibility of using it in applications that were previously considered impossible.

    The VAC is in a prime location to handle vehicles made in North America for distribution in British Columbia, northern Washington State and parts of Alberta, as well as vehicles imported through the Port of Vancouver.

  • Kubota Excavator Wins 2019 EquipmentWatch Award

    Kubota Tractor Corporation was recently named a 2019 winner in the EquipmentWatch annual Highest Retained Value awards program, the industry’s only award based on residual values for heavy equipment. The U35-4 tight tail swing compact excavator received this honor as the model series projected to retain the highest percentage of its original value after five years among all competitors in the excavator compact category.

    Kubota’s U35-4 tight tail swing compact excavator offers a new class of comfort and luxury in even the most confined work spaces. The U35-4 is equipped with the same spacious cab as a larger 5-ton excavator; the roomy cab features a larger entrance, deluxe suspension seat, air conditioning, easy-open front slide window, ample legroom, digital panel and enhanced ergonomics for optimal operator comfort.   • Canada Invests In Construction Of Modern Tall Wood Building In Toronto

    Investing in the long-term use of wood in Canada’s construction industry will increase the demand for Canadian wood products, create good, middle-class jobs for Canadians and help the Government of Canada achieve its climate change goals.

    Adam Vaughan, Member of Parliament for Spadina–Fort York, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, today announced a $4.1-million investment to build a 10-storey tall wood building in Toronto.

    Construction of The Arbour, a $134-million project at George Brown College’s Waterfront Campus, will use an estimated 3,000 cubic metres of wood and will be a new, net-zero carbon emissions academic wood structure.

  • Gehl To Be Primary Sponsor Of Graham Rahal’s Entry At Road America Race Car Will Feature Throwback Livery

    Rahal Letterman Lanigan (RLL) Racing announced today that the Gehl brand, part of Manitou North America, will be the primary sponsor for Graham Rahal’s No. 15 Honda-powered entry at the REV Group Grand Prix at Road America on June 23. The livery is a throwback to a fan favorite that team co-owner and Graham’s father, Bobby Rahal, drove in 1994.

    “It’s always special for us to run a Gehl car anywhere but to run it at one of our favorite tracks, and one that brings back as many memories as Road America does is even more special,” said Bobby Rahal, co-owner of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing with David Letterman and Michael Lanigan. “Fans always mention the livery I ran in the 90’s as their favorite and this was designed with that in mind. Gehl loves it too and it matches their corporate colors, so it’s thanks to them that we are able to bring it back.” 

    Gehl was an associate sponsor of the team’s IndyCar Series program from 2006-2008 and again for the 2014 season. Most recently Gehl was primary sponsor of Rahal’s entry at Road America in 2018, at Iowa Speedway in 2017 and was co-primary at Road America in 2017. Manitou North America is a producer of Gehl, Manitou, and Mustang by Mustang branded equipment for construction, agriculture, mining, energy industries and beyond. In addition, Gehl is in their 14th year of involvement with Graham Rahal, whom they have supported since his 2006 Atlantic Championship season where he was runner up to the champion.
