LiuGong Pushes Into Quarry And Aggregates With New International Team

LiuGong is committed to providing the comprehensive solutions that customers have become accustomed to from LiuGong, and customer segments are becoming an increased focus for the company.

The first step in realizing these goals is a new international team responsible for developing LiuGong’s quarry and aggregate business. Leading the team is John Calder, Director - Quarry and Aggregates.

Mr. Calder has worked with LiuGong for the last two years in product support and brings extensive industry experience. After university, where he studied Economics and Business, John worked at International Harvester in Australia for 5 years. John then joined Caterpillar in Geneva, Switzerland where he held a number of senior international positions in marketing, sales and dealer development over a 30-year career.

Women In Trucking Association Announces Driver Ambassador Program

The Women In Trucking Association (WIT) announced the launch of its Driver Ambassador program. The purpose of the program is to raise awareness of the non-profit association’s mission, promote the career opportunities women have in trucking, celebrate their accomplishments, remove obstacles female truck drivers face, and increase membership for the organization.

Kellylynn McLaughlin, a professional over-the-road CMV Driver and Training Engineer for Schneider National, will be the official WIT Driver Ambassador. Debbie Sparks, vice president of WIT, will manage the program.

Uptime Performance Of 830 M-T Leaves Stella-Jones With “No Other Option” For Pole-Handling Yard

When the 830 M-T log handler reached the end of its six year lease term with 22,000 service hours, Stella-Jones Inc.’s, Plant Manager Darrin Vigue did his due diligence to choose its replacement. But in the end, Vigue returned to the machine that had served him so well for the previous six years.

Stella-Jones has learned to rely on the 830 M-T log handler in this Galloway pole
facility all of the yard’s loading operations through two non-stop shifts every day.

“We considered other makes, including two of the industry’s top OEMs,” Vigue says. “But there were really no other options for us. The SENNEBOGEN is a good machine; everyone is happy with it.”

The facility that Vigue manages is one of several wood utility pole treatment plants that Stella-Jones operates in British Columbia. Western Red Cedar and Douglas Fir poles are first trimmed and debarked at another facility, then distributed to various yards such as Galloway for further treatment.

Peterbilt Battery-Electric Refuse Model 520EV - Announces Record Production of Model 520

Peterbilt Motors Company is displayed its battery-electric Model 520EV, a low-cab forward vehicle for the refuse industry, during the Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“The Model 520EV is leading the charge in battery-electric vehicles for refuse operations,” said Jason Skoog, Peterbilt General Manager and PACCAR Inc Vice President. “Demonstrator units have been operating on residential and commercial routes, working a full day on a single charge, and charging overnight. Our customers have been very impressed with the 520EV’s quiet operation, low maintenance cost and overall performance,” Skoog said. “We are excited that customers can begin to take delivery of the Model 520EV next year.”

The Model 520EV is powered by a Meritor/TransPower Energy Storage Subsystem with a total storage capacity of 308 kWh. It is driven by a TransPower Mid-Ship Motor Drive Subsystem with up to 430 HP, features a range of about 100 miles and a four-hour charge time.
