  • Craig Stewart Has Joined Van-Ed Equipment Ltd

    On February 11, 2019 Van-Ed Equipment Ltd. announced that Craig Stewart had joined the team as General Manager.  Along with the President, Rick Thompson, Craig will oversee the sales, rentals, parts, service, and operations based at our Port Kells facility in Surrey, B.C.


    “My objectives in this role will be to build on our already successful infrastructure and customer relationships in the industry, leveraging our engaged team of staff, social media, technology, and my previous experience to better serve our diverse customer base.  I’ll be working closely with our key customers in 2019, as we look to grow the business both this year and beyond.”


    Craig will report to the President, Rick Thompson.  “I’ve brought Craig onboard to help us continue our plan of steady growth, leveraging his 12+ years’ of expertise in the heavy equipment industry, as well as his skills in business and technology.  Craig has also spent many years forming solid industry relationships with several key associations, such as the B.C. Landscape & Nursery Association (BCLNA) and the Association of Equipment Distributors of B.C. (AED).  We’ll be looking to expand Van-Ed’s relationships in this space, and Craig will help drive this for us.  We’ve been in business for 32 years, and Craig will be an integral part in leading and growing the team moving forward.  Craig is a strong leader, and I am looking forward to seeing the evolution of our Van-Ed Equipment team.”

  • New tutorial available for mariners to help protect whales in B.C. waters

    Vancouver, B.C. – In advance of World Whale Day on February 16, BC Ferries and the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority have launched a tutorial for mariners to build awareness of local whale species and how to identify them, and provide navigational strategies to reduce potential interactions between ships and whales in B.C. waters.

  • Woman-Owned Trucking Company Finds A Niche With Site Prep And Paving Contractors

    Female truckers comprise just 7 percent of all truck drivers nationwide, but in Ellie Hinds Smithson’s family female truckers are in the majority.

    “I come from a long line of female truck drivers,” says Smithson, the owner of ERS Trucking based in Snohomish, Wash. “My grandmother drove a potato truck and transit bus. My mother drove a dump truck. I have two sisters who both have a CDL (Commercial Drivers License). One is an ice road hauler in Alaska and another drives for Boeing.”
