    The B.C. Forest Service is operating a “Love machine” in Surrey, and it’s giving a real lift to thousands every day.

  • Electric Island: First-Of-Its-Kind Heavy-Duty Electric Truck Charging Site Opens

    Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) and Portland General Electric (PGE) opened to the public in April the first-of-its-kind heavy-duty electric truck charging site, called “Electric Island.” Electric Island will help accelerate the development, testing and deployment of zero emissions (tank to wheel) commercial vehicles, like the ones manufactured by DTNA.

    First announced in December 2020, Electric Island opens with eight vehicle charging stations (a majority of which are available for public use) for the charging of electric cars, buses, box vans and semi-trucks. The site is built to immediately provide charging for EVs of all shapes and sizes, and will serve as an innovation center, allowing both PGE and DTNA to study energy management, charger use and performance, and, in the case of DTNA, its own vehicles’ charging performance.

    First of the ‘Overachievers’ to make its way into the B.C. earth-moving scene was viewed excavating ground cover at the Municipality of Chilliwack’s 9-hectare sanitary landfill. It’s the largest of the JSW hydraulic excavator line, and has been dubbed The Overachiever in the 80,000 pound class.

    High above the farmland of eastern Fraser Valley the Overachiever, fitted with a 2-1/2 yd. cleanup bucket, prepares to place a third bucketful of cover material into a dump truck box. This JSW BH 140 is fitted with wide pads to provide good machine stability in high saturated west coast terrain. The JSW line is sold and serviced in B.C. by Parker-Pacific Equipment Sales, Langley.
