  • New Storm Water Chamber Introduced: ADS Continues To Expand Product Line

    The new StormTech® chamber developed to contain and control storm water runoff in an underground system is now available from Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. (ADS). The StormTech MC-4500™ chamber is designed in accordance with AASHTO and ASTM design standards, making it a qualified choice for use in commercial and municipal projects. Manufactured using a high performance impact modified polypropylene (PP), it is rated by ADS for a 100 year service life. Able to handle large storm water flow volumes, the MC-4500 measures 5-feet from the bottom to the top of the corrugation and has a base of more than 8 feet. The MC-4500 provides more storage volume per square foot of land area than any other chamber on the market. It can be used with a minimum of 24 inches of cover and is generally installed under parking lots.

  • CTA Gives/Receives Award At Canadian Chiefs Of Police Event On Highway Interdiction By Front-Line Police Officers

    The recipient of the 2011 Canadian Trucking Alliance Highway Interdiction Award for outstanding work by a front-line police officer in detecting criminal activity on the highways is Constable David Karsin of the Winnipeg Police Service. The award, which is given to the Canadian police officer who was responsible seizing the highest value of goods or contraband from on-highway criminals was presented at the annual dinner of the National Pipeline/Convoy Conference held in Toronto on May 3rd. Since its inception in 1994, the Pipeline/Convoy Program which provides training for police officers in the detection and apprehension of travelling criminals and is overseen by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police has led to total seizures of contraband valued at over $4 billion.

    AMTA is joining forces with the other provincial trucking associations to support a change to the International Registration Plan that should save the trucking industry about $81 million per year. International Registration Plan (IRP), Inc., the organization responsible for establishing IRP rules, is set to vote on a ballot that would allow motor carriers to pay registration fees based on actual mileage and automatically register each truck involved in IRP with each IRP jurisdiction.
