  • Cummins Inc. Launches Cummins Water Works

    Cummins Inc. has announced a new global community program called Cummins Water Works, which addresses the global water crisis by partnering with leading water experts and investing and engaging in sustainable, large-scale, high-impact water projects around the world.

    This new community program is supported initially by $8 million in Cummins grants focusing on five of the most water-stressed countries: Mexico, Brazil, India, South Africa and the U.S. By 2025, Cummins Water Works will bring fresh water to 20 million people who would not otherwise have access to it, while striving to produce net water benefits that exceed Cummins’ annual water use in all Cummins regions by 2030, and in all Cummins communities by 2050.

  • Chevron and Cummins Announce Strategic Collaboration On Hydrogen

    Chevron U.S.A. Inc., through its Chevron Products Company division (Chevron), and Cummins Inc., a global power and hydrogen technologies leader, announced a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to explore a strategic alliance to develop commercially viable business opportunities in hydrogen and other alternative energy sources.

    The collaboration will explore opportunities to leverage Cummins electrolyzer and fuel cell technologies at one or more of Chevron’s domestic refineries.

     


    The MOU provides the framework for Chevron and Cummins to initially collaborate on four main objectives: advancing public policy that promotes hydrogen as a decarbonizing solution for transportation and industry; building market demand for commercial vehicles and industrial applications powered by hydrogen; developing infrastructure to support the use of hydrogen for industry and fuel cell vehicles; and exploring opportunities to leverage Cummins electrolyzer and fuel cell technologies at one or more of Chevron’s domestic refineries.

  • Fleet Maintenance & Repair Costs Increased In First Half of 2021

    American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council and Decisiv Inc., reported during TMC’s Fall Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition that costs for parts and labor for repairs rose over the first six months of the year.

    A benchmarking report from TMC and Decisiv found higher parts and labour expenses.

     


    According to the Decisiv/TMC North American Service Event Benchmark Report, labor costs for repair and maintenance increased 2.6% between the 1st and 2nd quarters in 2021 and overall parts costs increased by 2.8%. In that same period, parts costs for Tires increased by 10.7% and Transmissions part costs rose 9%.
