  • Daimler Trucks North America Employees Transform 2011 Cascadia® Into Traveling Tribute To Veterans

    Employees at Daimler Trucks North America’s Freightliner Truck manufacturing plant in Cleveland, N.C have customized a Cascadia® model truck with a Detroit Diesel DD15® engine, creating an eye-popping, super-sized symbol of the company’s respect for veterans. This is the ninth year plant employees have volunteered their time to help coordinate the truck design, local outreach and a 400-mile ride from the plant to the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. for the Ride of Pride project. This year’s Ride of Pride artwork is designed to show support for active duty personnel, retirees and families who have lost someone in service to the country, as well as for prisoners of war and those still missing in action.

  • Sacramento County Finds Kenworth T440s Right Fit For Waste Management Operation

    Fleets that haul waste to landfills often explore ways to increase operational productivity. In California, Sacramento County opted to specify lighter weight trucks with smaller engines instead of purchasing additional, heavier Class 8 trucks with larger powerplants. As a result, the county’s waste management department is using six lightweight, compact Kenworth T440s to deliver refuse to the Kiefer landfill with fewer truck trips.

  • Canadian Firm Sustainable.TO Architecture + Building Takes Top Prize In International Passive House Design Competition

    Canadian firm sustainable.TO Architecture + Building has taken the top prize in an international competition to design a passive house for New Orleans, Paul Dowsett, sustainable.TO principal, announced. Acclaimed as "an incredibly thoughtful and viable response to this challenge," sustainable.TO's "Low Cost, Low Energy House" was selected from 65 entries from around the world. The competition was launched by the ArchDaily website and DesignByMany, a challenge-based design technology community.
