    Great Dane Trailers is mourning the passing of the first "true salesman" the company ever had. Chris Hammond Jr., former president and chairman of the board for Great Dane Trailers, passed away Jan. 3 at the age of 98, the company announced.

    Atlas Copco launched a new air compressor concept with the new XAS 27 (27 l/s, 7 bar) compressor. The XAS 27 compressor is the first in the Atlas Copco Portable Air compressor range powered by a petrol engine. And the unit has been designed to offer exceptional versatility by having the most compact dimensions in our portable compressor range. The new XAS 27 is driven by a tough and reliable Honda engine, which exceeds existing emissions regulations. It has a V-Belt drive with a belt tensioning rail system. The engine drives Atlas Copco’s new C55 element. The XAS 27 is also the very first compressor with a petrol (gasoline) engine in the entire Atlas Copco Portable Air range.

  • Rio Tinto Donates $1 Million To Queensland Flood Relief; Local Miners Pitch In To Assist Emerald Community

    Rio Tinto will donate $1 million to assist flood victims following the devastating Christmas-New Year floods in Queensland. Rio Tinto will contribute $700,000 to the Premier's Flood Relief Appeal and $300,000 directly to Emerald charities and organisations. The floods have been described as the worst in Queensland's recorded history, triggered by monsoonal rains after months of significant rainfall across the State. Thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes in the central Queensland towns of Emerald, Condamine, Theodore and the regional town of Rockhampton.

  • Kobelco Announces Strategy For Tier 4 Interim Requirements

    Kobelco Construction Machinery America has announced its strategy to meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s Tier 4 interim emissions requirements that begin in 2011. Introduced in two phases, Tier 4 regulations represent the biggest reduction in heavy equipment emissions to date. Tier 4 final emissions requirements, which take effect in 2014, will reduce particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by 90 percent, compared to Tier 3 requirements.

    It didn't take a six-year federal study to show that miners want fluid analysis equipment on-site for speedy but comprehensive results as part of their equipments' preventive maintenance programs. But that's what a 2004 U.S. Department of Energy study concluded, and what an increasing number of respected players in the mining industry, including service provider Megaton Inc. and equipment provider P&H Mining Equipment, are moving to implement.
