“For two weeks, we have all watched in horror as the Russian army attempts to conquer the independent, democratic nation of Ukraine. The largest military attack Europe has seen since the end of World War II is laying waste to vibrant cities and communities and indiscriminately killing innocent civilians,” said Chris Gardner, ICBA President. “Our members have been asking us how they can help – so we are working to raise money for the Red Cross’ relief efforts.”

First Look: Expanded Mini Excavator Lineup From CASE

CASE Construction Equipment provided the first glimpse of an expanded mini excavator offering at the CNH Industrial Capital Markets Day event held on February 22, 2022 in Miami Beach, Florida. The showcase included the first look at the CASE CX15 EV (electric vehicle), an electric mini excavator with plans for the North American market in 2023.

CASE CX15 Electric Mini Excavator

The CASE CX15 EV is a 2,900-pound mini excavator powered by a 16 kW electric motor — it features retractable tracks that get machine width down to about 31 inches for going through doors and working in confined spaces. It can also work very close to structures and obstacles with a minimum swing radius design. The 21.5 kWh lithium-ion battery is charged either by the 110V/220V on-board charger, or via an external rapid charger that can have the machine charged extremely fast, typically within 90 minutes. Depending on the type of work, the CASE CX15 EV will provide enough power to work through a full eight-hour work day. A load-sensing hydraulic system delivers smooth and powerful performance that allows the operator to dial the machine in to each task.

Truck Demand Roars To Start 2022

Demand for commercial trucks began in 2022 as 2021 ended – with a very good outlook for economic activity and by extension, freight, said Kenny Vieth, president and senior analyst for America’s Commercial Transportation Research Co. (ACT).

“The challenges for the industry at the start of 2022 are not dissimilar from those of a year-ago: supply-chain and labor constraints. We began talking about ‘chips’ at the start of 2021 and are still talking about them today. If there is a silver lining, the world is a year closer to the capacity additions that record levels of investment in those industries promise; there was a lot of capacity in the pipeline prior to the globe’s demand for goods outstripping silicon capacity into late 2020.”
