  • “When You Have A Stable Forwarder, You Become More Efficient”

A stable forwarder does not only mean a better work environment with less strain on the operator, it’s also of great importance to achieve good productivity. To forest machine contractor Patrik Jonsson, at J Jonssons Skogs AB, the greatest benefits lie in more efficient crane operations and a higher transport speed.

    – I have had this Komatsu 895 since May 2019, and it is the most stable forest machine I have operated, says Patrik Jonsson.

  • The Royal Canadian Mint Launches its Largest-Ever Gold Maple Leaf Coin

The Royal Canadian Mint has produced the largest Gold Maple Leaf coin ever made, struck in exquisite detail and high relief at the Mint's Ottawa facility. As the only Mint in the world crafting coins from 99.999% pure gold, the 10-kilogram product offers collectors a unique luxury experience. In creating its second only such offering, the Mint has faithfully recreated all the signature elements of its famed Gold Maple Leaf bullion coin. This exclusive coin was on display at the Royal Canadian Mint's booth during PDAC 2020 at the Toronto Metro Convention Centre, earlier this in March.

"For more than 40 years, the Mint's Gold Maple Leaf has led the global precious metal industry by setting new standards for the purity and security of gold bullion coins," said Marie Lemay, President and CEO of the Royal Canadian Mint. "We are proud to have created a 10-kilogram, 99.999% pure collector edition of the Gold Maple Leaf coin as an exclusive expression of one of the world's most admired and coveted gold coins."

The 99.999% pure 10-Kilogram Gold Maple Leaf meticulously captures every detail of the 1 oz. gold bullion coin it celebrates. Its maple leaf-shaped security mark, the dazzling array of radial lines filling the reverse and obverse of the coin, and the trademark Walter Ott-designed sugar maple leaf shining from the coin's centre in matte proof finish are magnified in stunning scale.  The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II created by portrait artist Susanna Blunt in 2003.

  • The Royal Canadian Mint reinvents the coin with its first-ever collectible in the shape of a real cut diamond

Breaking the mold to prove there can be more than two sides to a coin, the Royal Canadian Mint has proudly created a collectible in the three-dimensional shape of a real cut diamond.  The 2020 $50 Fine Silver Diamond Shaped Coin – Forevermark© Diamond is crafted from three ounces of 99.99% pure silver and is adorned by a 0.20-carat diamond from Northern Ontario's Victor Mine. The Mint's R&D team overcame many challenges to flawlessly strike this dramatically contoured coin and produce a luxury collectible that is also a unique engineering feat.  This extraordinary creation, along with many other finely crafted collectibles, is available to the public as of March 3rd.

Turning to the past, the Mint has issued new coins recognizing symbols of history with the half-kilogram 2020 $125 Fine Silver Coin – 75th Anniversary of UNESCO, featuring L'Anse aux Meadows Historic Site.  The archeological remains of Canada's famous authenticated Viking settlement, located at the northwest tip of Newfoundland, come back to life on an illustration of bygone village life imagined by artist Rebecca Yanovskaya. This selectively gold-plated coin features a UNESCO privy mark, along with runic-style script and Viking scrollwork.

Fast-forwarding to early French and English settlement of Canada, the 2020 $10 Fine Silver Coin – 350th Anniversary of Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) recreates HBC's trade token featuring the company's coat of arms, and is struck in a style that mimics the minting process of the period.  The 2020 $10 Pure Gold Coin Relics of New France: Louis XIV 15 Sol, revives the regal elegance of a 450 year-old piece of colonial numismatic history, on a quarter ounce of 99.99% pure gold.
