  • GOMACO Engineering And The Commander III’s Expertise On A German Tunnel Project

    A massive construction project has been underway deep in the heart of the Schnecktal valley area in Germany. From the surface, though, you would never be able to tell. The majority of the work is underground as a joint-venture team led by German contractor Wayss and Freytag Ingenieurbau AG builds the nearly seven kilometer (4.3 mi) long Finne Tunnel. After a few years of tunnel boring operations, the contractor is at work finishing the interior of the tunnel, slipforming first the tunnel’s floor and then a walkway with their GOMACO Commander III.

  • PPI Mourns Passing Of Industry Stalwart

    Tony Radoszewski, executive director of The Plastics Pipe Institute, Inc. (PPI), said recently that the entire membership is feeling the loss of Bob Ayres, a long-time leader and key participant in the organization for more than 50 years. Ayres passed away at the age of 78 on November 24, 2011.

  • Kubota Excavator Rodeo Finals A Hit In Edmonton

    After eight regional qualifying events held across B.C. in the spring, and Alberta in the fall, the Kubota Excavator Rodeo Finals were held at Northlands Park in Edmonton on Nov. 5th. Qualifiers from each regional event earned a spot in the finals and a chance to compete for the top prize, a brand new Kubota RTV500 utility vehicle valued at $10,000. Plus, second and third place finalists would take home Future Shop gift certificates worth $2,000 and $1,000 respectively.

  • Saskatoon Contractor Trevor Wehage Crowned New Holland North American Skid Steer Champion

    New Holland Construction announced that Trevor Wehage, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, earned the title of North American Skid Steer Champion. Wehage, who works for Don Wehage & Sons Trucking & Excavating Ltd. in Saskatoon, defeated more than 30 of the most talented compact equipment operators in the United States and Canada in a series of skill-testing challenges using a New Holland 200 Series skid steer loader. The championship event took place during the 2011 GIE+EXPO show in Louisville, Ky.
